TBWA\Vancouver Supports E-Comm 9-1-1 In Helping Save Lives and Protect Property

Vancouver, B.C. March 21st, 2007 TBWAVancouver has been selected to be the communication partner of E-Comm 9-1-1, the emergency communications centre for southwest British Columbia. The agency beat out an undisclosed list of Vancouver based agencies and will begin creative development of the first campaign this spring.

“We are excited to be working with TBWAVancouver. There was great chemistry with their team from the beginning and their strategic and creative approach was exactly what we were looking for,” said Jody Robertson, E-Comm Director of Corporate Communications.

Agency responsibilities will include strategic planning, brand development, creative production, media planning and buying and ethnic marketing.

E-Comm 9-1-1 has developed a public education plan to address critical communication needs brought about in large part by technological change in the region. E-Comm aims to reduce the number of misdialed calls from wireless phones and educate the public on appropriate use of 9-1-1.

About E-Comm

E-Comm is the emergency communications centre for southwest British Columbia. Through a 9-1-1 call centre, radio and dispatch systems, E-Comm provides emergency communication services and support systems to emergency responders and the two million residents of southwestern British Columbia.

E-Comm provides 9-1-1 service for the Greater Vancouver Regional District (GVRD), the Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) and the Whistler area. E-Comm also provides emergency dispatch services for a number of police and fire departments in those areas. In 2006, close to 1.1. million 9-1-1 calls were placed to E-Comm.
